What sport/discipline/Fitness activity do you take part in? Why? How long?
I box and gym as both help immensely with self-discipline and self-confidence. I box with my coach 1-2 times a week and I gym about 4 times a week.
What’s your current goal?
My current goal is to continue to build strength and fix my relationship with food.
How often do you train?
At least 5 times a week
How do you train?
For boxing, it’ll be mixture of drills, pad work and footwork. In the gym, it’s a mixture of upper body, lower body and full body days.
What’s your biggest training tips?
To record your sessions & be okay with failing! Recording my sessions has helped immensely to fix and improve my form. You have to learn that failing is all part of the process and only when you’re comfortable with failing will you be able to achieve your true potential!
What’s your biggest bit of advice for someone starting?
To remember that everyone was in your position as some point and that you can’t compare your first day to someone who’s been training for several years. Be okay with knowing that you don’t know everything and that good posture, carrying heavy weights, feeling confident only comes with time and experience. You just have to keep going.
What’s your favourite thing about your sport/discipline?
Apart from the physical benefits, what I love the most about boxing and going to the gym is that I completely zone out and focus on myself. I get to switch off and release any stress I have.
What’s the goal for 2022?
To grow mentally and physically. I’ve spent so many years going to the gym to change my physique to “fit in” with society’s beauty standards but the more I focus on myself, the more I stop caring about what others have to say/think about the way I look. I know how incredible my body is and what it can achieve, no one should be able to tell my otherwise.
What’s your biggest achievement to date? In sport or general?
A few years back I decided to take up ballet lessons to lose weight. I ended up losing 13kgs in a span of a year and was taken out of my comfort zone by trying something completely new and LOVED it. I danced for 3 years after that until I had to leave for university, but it was one of the first moments I realized that if I truly set my mind to something and enjoy the process, I can achieve anything.
What or who inspires you?
My Grandma. She always chose to speak kindly and always had the best intention. In every room she walked in, she always had this loving presence and never failed to put a smile on anyone’s face. She taught me to always be kind and polite as you never know what the other person may be going through.
What’s your favourite product from PhD and SiS?
PhD: Smart Bar White Chocolate Blondie – honestly, I’ve shared this bar with many friends/family members and they’re all just as obsessed as I am. By far, the best tasting protein bar I’ve ever had.
SiS: Hydro Tablets Pink Grapefruit – game changer after a night out and/or during a sweaty session!
What do you love about being a part of SiS/PhD?
I love the ambition of both brands to offer the best possible products. The team’s work behind releasing top quality products is phenomenal there will come a point where both brands will have a product to help every need to become the best version of ourselves every day.
